An original Australian Commonwealth Military Forces cap badge, featuring the iconic Rising Sun design of the early 1904–1949 pattern, manufactured by the well-known British maker J. W. Tiptaft & Son Ltd, Birmingham, worn by generations of servicemen through both World Wars.
Struck in bronzed copper, the badge displays the rays of the Rising Sun above a scroll bearing “Australian Commonwealth Military Forces” with the King’s Crown in the centre.
J. W. Tiptaft & Son Ltd was a wartime contractor, and their maker mark on the slider on the reverse.
Condition: Good, with some wear to the highlights and some damage to the rays positioned at midnight and one o’clock. Slider attachment intact and maker marked to the rear.
