Belgian War Medal 1914-1918 (Medaille Commemorative de la Guerre) Medal, Full Size
Decree of 21st July 1919 instituted the ‘Medaille Commemorative de la Guerre 1914-18 to be awarded under the same conditions as the Victory Medal. The award is of an unusual bell-shaped design and a number of ribbon embellishments were awarded.
As late as 1950 a bar was authorised for the Belgian Expeditionary Corps that served in Russia during 1916-17, and the bars indicating time as a prisoner of war were not authorised until June 1952.
Ribbon: 36 mm Red with a wide central stripe of Yellow edges by very Narrow Black.
