H.M. Silver Shooting spoon. it is engraved at the top A. de Z. Elliot, Bisley 1914. The N.R.A have told me that;
“The spoon is not for a specific win. It is one of a range of H.M. Silver Souvenirs which a competitor could purchase with prize money. They could not be just purchased; it had to be with prize money from that particular Imperial Meeting. They were produced by Elkington & Co, 22, Regent Street, London, S.W. “patterns reserved specifically for the N.R.A.”
At that time this spoon cost about 10/-.
However, on checking our records for 1914, there was a “ladies”
competition open to ladies who are members of the N.R.A.
Seven shots at 500 yds – Service Rifle, “special conditions – one Silver N.R.A. souvenir prize is given in respect of each complete five entries”.
There were seven Silver souvenirs awarded, with Mrs A de Zoete. Elliott, of the Dronfield Club, in 3rd place.”
