An authentic example of a 19th-century Sudanese Kaskara sword, characteristic of the traditional edged weapons carried across the Sudan and broader Sahel region. This piece exemplifies local craftsmanship influenced by earlier Arab and Crusader-era sword forms, featuring a straight, double-edged blade. Forged from locally reworked trade steel, the blade displays three shallow fullers extending from the ricasso, tapering to a rounded point ideal for both cutting and thrusting.  It also features a Medieval European-style crossguard and leather-bound hilt with a circular disc-shaped pommel

Dimensions

Overall length: approx. 96cm (37.75 in)

Blade length: approx. 83.5cm (32.8 in)

Blade width at forte: approx. 4cm (1.5 in)

Condition
Good. The blade shows a fairly even-aged patina. The leather hilt remains solid, with some age-related wear.
