Life Guards (1st and 2nd) cap badge produced as a restrike of the GRV cypher pattern worn between 1922 and 1928 during the reign of King George V, following the post-First World War amalgamation of the 1st and 2nd Life Guards. This British Army Household Cavalry cap badge displays the recognised insignia of the Life Guards in clear relief, incorporating the crowned GRV royal cypher as the central device within a circlet bearing “Life Guards,” arranged in a formal and balanced composition characteristic of Household Cavalry headdress insignia. The design reflects the regiment’s senior status within the Household Division and its ceremonial and operational duties in the early 20th century.
Manufactured in a brass finish consistent with full dress and service dress wear, this restrike example offers a sharply defined representation of the original post-amalgamation GRV pattern. Life Guards (1st and 2nd) GRV cap badges are collected as examples of inter-war British Army militaria, Household Cavalry insignia, and King’s Crown regimental uniform hardware. The reverse is fitted with standard lug fittings for secure attachment to a cap or helmet.
