A superb antique Deschaux-style rapier, manufactured likely in the late 19th-early 20th century, complete with its matching scabbard. This example is patterned after the distinctive style associated with Arnaud Deschaux, a renowned French swordsmith of the early 1600s.
The sword features a slim (approximately 30mm wide), tapering steel blade designed for thrusting. The ornate hilt showcases the classic steel swept guard. The wooden grip remains firm and well preserved. Housed in a fitted leather scabbard with steel mounts.
Condition: Very good. The blade is clean, with age-consistent wear and patina. Hilt is secure, with minor surface oxidation on the guard. The scabbard fits well and shows some wear to the surface with the stitching burst at the chape.
Dimensions:
Total Length (in scabbard): approx. 104cm (41 inches)
Blade Length: approx. 86cm (34 inches)
