A finely crafted Japanese Wakizashi in the Naginata Naoshi style, originally formed from a polearm (naginata) and later reshaped into a short sword. Housed in a minimalist Shirasaya (plain wooden storage mount).

The blade features a curved and double-fullered blade with a single edge, typical of Naginata Naoshi, retaining its polearm lineage while presenting as a compact sidearm. The hamon (temper line) and grain pattern are hardly visible. The tang (nakago) appears unsigned (mumei), consistent with many blades repurposed during the Edo period and beyond.

These conversions from Naginata to Wakizashi were typically made during the Edo period and were usually done so for combat use rather than for ceremonial wear.

Blade length: Approx. 540mm

Mount length (total): Approx. 708mm

Condition: Acceptable to good. Blade shows light signs of handling or ageing with some small chips to the edge towards the tip. The mount is clean but has split at the spine of the scabbard and handle.
