Inert British 30mm ADEN shell, dated 1988, produced for the ADEN (Armament Development, Enfield) revolver cannon. The ADEN gun was standard armament for numerous post-war British jet aircraft, including the Hawker Hunter, English Electric Lightning, and SEPECAT Jaguar, and remained in widespread RAF and NATO service throughout the Cold War.
This example is a round made inert for display, comprising a painted projectile and a brass shell case (non-functional and fully safe). The case is clearly stamped with markings around the rim reading “093A, CY, 88, PRAC, 4Z / J30MM RG 88”. Originally designed for the 30×113B cartridge configuration used in the ADEN aircraft cannon system.
