An original cap badge of the Dorsetshire Regiment, conforming to the pattern in use from 1901 to 1951 and spanning the Edwardian period, the First World War, the interwar years, and the Second World War. This British Army cap badge displays the recognised Dorsetshire Regiment insignia in well-defined relief, incorporating the regiment’s battle honours of Egypt (Sphynx) and Gibraltar (Castle of Gibraltar) as well as its motto “Primis in Indis” (First in India), arranged in a design typical of early to mid-20th-century British military insignia. Executed in bimetal (gilding metal and white metal) with crisp detailing, it was intended for wear on service dress and ceremonial headdress.

This example represents a desirable piece of original British Army militaria and Dorsetshire Regimental history, suitable for collectors of WWI and WWII insignia, county regimental badges, and Commonwealth military collectables. The reverse retains the original eyed lug fittings for secure attachment.
