An original three-tier brass shoulder title for the Duke of Wellington’s (West Riding) Regiment, featuring the full regimental name in stacked format: “DUKE / OF / WELLINGTON’S”. This pattern was introduced during the First World War and remained in service through the interwar years, until around 1931 when abbreviated forms were adopted.
Struck in brass, this title was worn on Service Dress epaulettes by other ranks in both Regular and Territorial battalions. Units wearing this title served with distinction in France, Flanders, Gallipoli, and across the Empire during WWI. The reverse is fitted with two original copper lugs (loops), firmly attached for mounting via split pins.
