An original cap badge to the South Wales Borderers, as worn by the regiment from the late 19th century through to 1969. Struck in bimetal, the badge features the prominent Sphinx above the word “EGYPT”, with the unit’s initials “SWB”, all within a laurel and floral wreath. This pattern was worn on both the service dress cap and the beret and remained in use until the regiment’s amalgamation into the Royal Regiment of Wales in 1969.
On the reverse are east-west eyed lugs, typical of Victorian or Edwardian manufacture
