East Yorkshire Regiment cap badge produced as a restrike of the pattern worn between 1881 and 1958 by the East Yorkshire Regiment of the British Army. This British Army infantry cap badge displays the recognised insignia of the regiment in clear relief, incorporating the White Rose of Yorkshire in a starburst as the central device, a long-standing symbol of the county from which the regiment traditionally recruited. Beneath the rose appears a scroll bearing the regiment’s title “East Yorkshire”, arranged in a simple yet distinctive composition characteristic of late nineteenth-century British Army headdress insignia.
The design reflects the regiment’s regional identity and its origins in the reforms of the British Army during the late Victorian period, when county-based infantry regiments were formally established. The White Rose emblem remained closely associated with the regiment throughout its existence, representing its Yorkshire heritage and long service within the line infantry of the British Army.
Manufactured in bimetal (brass and white metal) consistent with service dress wear, this restrike example provides a sharply defined representation of the original pattern worn for much of the regiment’s history.
