This is an original and early-manufactured example of the East Yorkshire Regiment cap badge, likely dating from the late Victorian/Edwardian period to the early 20th century.
Struck in bi-metal, this classic design features the White Rose of York in white metal at the centre of a brass Garter Star, overlaid by a laurel wreath. The regiment’s title is inscribed on the scroll below: “East Yorkshire”. The reverse retains its original copper east-west eyed lugs, typical of earlier manufacture and distinct from later wartime issues.
This badge would have been worn during key campaigns, including the First World War, where the regiment served with distinction in France, Flanders, Gallipoli, and the Middle East. The East Yorkshire Regiment dates back to 1685, later becoming part of The Prince of Wales’s Own Regiment of Yorkshire in 1958.
Condition: Good, uneven patina, lugs are stretched from wear
Dimensions: Approx. 46mm x 41mm
