This is a curved brass shoulder title of the Hampshire Regiment, produced to the post-1902 pattern following the Army reforms that standardised regimental titles. The arched HANTS title was worn on the shoulder straps of service dress and battledress uniforms, identifying the wearer as a member of the Hampshire Regiment. This pattern saw extensive use during the First World War and continued into the inter-war period.
Manufactured in brass, the title is die-stamped with clear, legible lettering and a gentle curve designed to sit neatly on the shoulder. The reverse is fitted with original lugs for attachment.
Dimensions
Approx. 40mm x 13mm
Condition
Very good, with a pleasing aged patina and well-defined lettering. The lugs are intact and secure, and there is only light wear consistent with period use.
