Original WWII British Home Guard (HG) brass shoulder title, as worn by members of Britain’s home defence during the Second World War. Formed in 1940 as the Local Defence Volunteers (LDV) and soon renamed the Home Guard, these part-time volunteers guarded key points, manned observation posts, and prepared to defend Britain’s towns and countryside against invasion.
This brass shoulder title features the plain “HG” letters in bold cut-out design, intended to be worn onto the epaulettes of the battledress blouse or greatcoat.
