Original Italian M1935 Model NCO dagger issued to the Milizia Volontaria per la Sicurezza Nazionale (MVSN or Voluntary Militia for National Security in English), commonly known as the Blackshirts. Introduced in 1935, this dagger was carried by non-commissioned officers as both a symbol of rank and a dress sidearm.
The dagger features a single, false-edged steel blade, a slightly formed crossguard, and a ribbed wooden grip secured by brass rivets, terminating in a slightly rounded pommel. The scabbard is constructed of painted black steel with the “MVSN” initials below the fasces. This design was based on earlier Italian combat knives and daggers, standardised for the Fascist militia during the interwar and Second World War periods.
Dimensions
Overall length: approx. 325mm
Blade length: approx. 209mm
Condition
Acceptable. The blade is in good, clean condition and retains its profile, with light surface wear and age-related discolouration. The grip has split in the past and has been repaired. Despite this, it’s still secure. The scabbard shows a reasonable amount of wear and loosely fits the blade, but is otherwise solid, with the belt mount still intact.
