An original cap badge of the Australia Squadron of the King’s Colonials, a uniquely cosmopolitan yeomanry regiment formed in 1901 to represent the dominions of the British Empire. Each squadron wore its own distinct badge, and the Australia Squadron’s device is among the scarcest. The design incorporates the kangaroo motif associated with the Australian contingent, set above the scroll “Australia”.
Struck in gilding metal with detailed die work, the reverse is fitted with original lugs for cap attachment.
Dimensions
Approx. 48mm x 49mm
Condition
Very good, with clear detail, an even patina, and both lugs present and secure. Minor verdigrae build up, consistent with age, but no damage or repair.
