An original brass shoulder title for the Military Foot Police (MFP), dating to the pre-1926 pattern period.
This early shoulder title features the abbreviation “MFP” in bold, serifed capital letters, struck in brass and fitted with two original copper lugs to the reverse for attachment to the service dress uniform.

The Military Foot Police were part of the British Army’s Corps of Military Police, responsible for policing duties including traffic control, prisoner escort, discipline enforcement, and security. During the First World War, the MFP served extensively on the Western Front, in Egypt, Gallipoli, Salonika, and other theatres. This title would have been worn on the shoulder straps of both regular and territorial personnel during this period.

In 1926, the Military Foot Police and Military Mounted Police were amalgamated into the Corps of Military Police (CMP) and later the Royal Military Police (RMP), making this shoulder title a distinct and now scarce artefact from the pre-amalgamation era.

Condition: Good, letters slightly warped.
