A rare and original example of the Ottoman Model 1909 Infantry Officer’s Sword, as carried by commissioned officers of the Imperial Ottoman Army in the final years of the Ottoman Empire, including the Balkan Wars, World War I, and the lead-up to the dissolution of the Empire in 1922.

This regulation pattern officer’s sword features a slightly curved, single-edged blade, typically measuring around 733mm, with a single fuller and bearing arsenal marks “Archan Tadjirian” on the spine. The hilt is fitted with a brass crossguard with integral knuckle guard with downturned quillon, a horn grip bound with brass wire, and brass backstrap and pommel, bearing the crescent and star motif above the blade.

Paired with a nickel and brass furnished scabbard fitted with twin suspension rings, this sword was worn by infantry officers both on campaign and in formal dress.

Condition: Good, the plating on the blade has begun peeling around the etching. The scabbard has snapped and has been crudely repaired
Overall Length: Approx. 853mm
