Royal Gloucestershire, Berkshire & Wiltshire (RGBW) Regiment back badge, worn on the rear of the headdress—a unique distinction inherited from the regiment’s Gloucestershire lineage. This tradition dates back to the Battle of Alexandria in 1801, where the 28th (North Gloucestershire) Regiment fought back-to-back against French forces. The honour continued through successive amalgamations and was formally retained by the Royal Gloucestershire, Berkshire & Wiltshire Regiment, formed in 1994.

This gilt metal back badge features the classic sphinx atop a plinth that reads “EGYPT”, an emblem associated with the regiment’s Egyptian battle honour. Typically fitted to the beret or peaked cap, its use remained a defining and highly recognisable feature of RGBW dress.

Ideal for collectors of post-Cold War British infantry insignia, Gloucestershire Regiment lineage items, or unique British regimental distinctions.
