Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders Brass Bed Plate

An original brass bed plate to the Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders, as used for barrack room identification and personal kit layout following British Army regulations. These plates were typically issued to regular and territorial soldiers and affixed to bed frames, and usually engraved or stamped with regimental and personal details. This example is crafted from die-struck brass, with a loop at the top for securing to the barrack bedframe. It is stamped with the regimental cap badge design with space left below for the soldier’s service number or name, though this particular example remains unnamed/unissued. The plate would have been highly polished for kit inspections and laid out as part of a soldier’s standard barrack room presentation.

The Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders served with distinction in both World Wars and later amalgamated in 1961 into the Queen’s Own Highlanders (Seaforth and Camerons).
