This is a brass shoulder title of the Royal Artillery, bearing the abbreviated RA designation. Such titles were worn on the shoulder straps of service dress and battledress uniforms to denote corps affiliation. They were in widespread use throughout the 20th century, particularly during the First and Second World Wars. The simple, bold lettering reflects the standardised style adopted across the British Army.
The title is manufactured in brass, die-stamped with clean, well-defined lettering. The reverse is fitted with attachment lugs for securing to the uniform.
Dimensions
Approx. 28mm x 17mm
Condition
Very good, with a pleasing aged patina and clear lettering. The lugs are intact and secure, and there is only light wear consistent with period use.
