This is a two-part cap badge of the Royal Marine Band Portsmouth, manufactured to the post-1955 pattern introduced following organisational and insignia changes within the Royal Marines Band Service. The badge features a flaming grenade within a wreath in gilt, with the royal cypher of King George V (denoting Portsmouth Band Group), and surmounted by a second badge with the cypher of Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, consistent with post-1953 insignia used throughout the Royal Marines.
The front piece is finely detailed, with the grenade, laurels, and long stick pin cypher crisply defined. The reverse retains the standard fixing system for secure attachment.
Condition
As new, with clear, sharp detail and an even gilt finish, and all fixings are intact and functional.
