An original white metal shoulder title to the Somerset and Cornwall Light Infantry (SCLI), worn circa 1959 to c.1966, during the regiment’s brief independent existence before its amalgamation into The Light Infantry. This shoulder title features the name: “Somerset & Cornwall” die-struck in white metal, surmounted by a bugle with integral lugs to reverse for securing to the epaulettes of the service or battledress uniform. This pattern was introduced following the 1959 merger of the Somerset Light Infantry (Prince Albert’s) and the Duke of Cornwall’s Light Infantry, part of a wider post-war reorganisation of British infantry regiments.
