War and Victory Medal, Lance Corporal Samuel Prior Johnson, 2nd York and Lancaster Regiment/Northumberland Fusiliers
Samuel Prior Johnson was born in 1895 in Tinsley, Sheffield in Yorkshire, England. Before the war, he worked as a steel dresser and entered the theatre of war on the 27th of October 1914 under the 2nd Battalion, York and Lancaster Regiment. He transferred to the Northumberland Fusiliers on the 1st of April, 1916 and presumably was promoted to Lance Corporal at a similar point or later with new service number 30274. He married Eleanor Jane Redding on the 6th of August, 1917 and was demobilised on the 11th of February, 1919. He later passed away in May of 1985.
