British 5th Infantry Division printed formation badge. A reproduction of the formation badge worn by the 5th Infantry Division from the Second World War into the Cold War era. The 5th Infantry Division served in multiple theatres during the war, including France, Madagascar, Sicily, Italy, and North-West Europe. Manufactured on cotton, this example features the division’s distinctive white “Y” design on a brown background, originally produced as a wartime economy issue in printed rather than embroidered form. The reverse is unbacked, as issued for sewing directly to battledress.
