French Model 1822 Officer’s Light Cavalry Sabre, made circa 1840-1860, manufactured by the renowned Klingenthal, Coulaux & Co. in Alsace. The sword features the distinctive curved, single-edged blade with a broad fuller running nearly the full length, as well as a second, shallow fuller. The blade retains a bright finish with minor age patina and crisp etching.
The decorative brass three-bar hilt is finely formed, with a knucklebow joining the pommel cap, typical of officer-grade examples. Housed in its original steel scabbard with twin suspension rings, showing age-consistent surface wear.
The spine is engraved “Manufre de Klingenthal, Coulaux & Cie”, as well as featuring typical French acceptance marks on the ricasso.
