Army Pay Department officer’s button, dating from the brief issue between 1902 and 1920. Measuring 19mm in diameter, this gilt brass button features the crown and lion, surrounded by the inscription “Army Pay Department”.

This button design was superseded in 1920 when the department was reorganised into the Army Pay Corps. These buttons were worn on the service dress tunic and mess dress of departmental officers responsible for financial operations across the British Army.

Condition: Good, the gilt finish is mostly absent.
