King’s South Africa Medal, Private James Wynne, 2nd Battalion Gloucestershire Regiment with 2 clasps (South Africa 1901, South Africa 1902)

James Wynne was born in around 1873 in Oldham Common, South Gloucestershire, England. He enlisted into the Gloucestershire Regiment in 1891, aged 18. He would go on to serve in the 2nd Battalion of the Gloucestershire regiment during the Second Boer War, in which he was awarded the QSA with Cape Colony and Orange Free State clasps.

He would volunteer to serve in the Gloucestershire Regiment again on the 10th of September, 1914, arriving in France on the 18th of February 1915. He would switch between the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 10th and working in the depot and briefly serving in the Royal West Kent Regiment in December 1916.
