27th Lancers officer’s cap badge, 1941–1945 pattern, an original Second World War example manufactured in bimetal white metal and gilding metal. The badge represents the 27th Lancers, a short-lived British cavalry regiment raised during the Second World War and associated with the expansion and reorganisation of the British Army’s armoured and cavalry forces during the conflict.
The 27th Lancers were formed in 1941 and served as a wartime cavalry regiment, later becoming associated with armoured operations. The regiment was disbanded in 1945 following the end of the Second World War, giving its insignia a particularly defined collecting period. Original badges from this short period are of interest to collectors of Second World War British Army insignia, cavalry cap badges and wartime regimental militaria.
The bimetal construction combines white metal and gilding metal to produce the contrasting appearance characteristic of officers’ regimental insignia. This original example is suitable for collections focusing on the 27th Lancers, British cavalry, Second World War militaria and officers’ cap badges.
