Suffolk Regiment Officer’s Service Dress Cap Badge – 1902–1953 Pattern, Original
An original Officer’s Service Dress cap badge for the Suffolk Regiment, used from 1902 until 1953, spanning the reigns of Edward VII, George V, Edward VIII, and George VI.
This finely cast bronze badge features the castle and key of Gibraltar inside a circlet that bears the regimental motto: “Montis Insignia Calpe” (Insignia of the Mountain of Calpe), set within a laurel wreath and surmounted by the King’s Crown (Tudor Crown). A scroll below reads “The Suffolk Regiment”.
This version was intended for wear on the officer’s service dress cap and is manufactured in bronze, with blades on the reverse, typical of private-purchase badges from this period. Officer-quality examples display crisper detailing and higher-grade materials compared to other ranks’ versions.
The Suffolk Regiment served in multiple theatres during both World Wars, including the Western Front, North Africa, and the Far East.
Condition: Good, rich bronze finish with some light wear; blades intact and firm.
Dimensions: Approx. 47mm x 47mm
