An original anodised aluminium beret badge to the Royal Leicestershire Regiment, worn between 1946 and 1964, prior to the regiment’s amalgamation into the Royal Anglian Regiment. This is the post-war staybrite pattern, introduced in the late 1950s to replace traditional brass badges with lightweight, maintenance-free alternatives.
The badge features the regiment’s emblem: a royal tiger passant guardant, standing above a scroll inscribed “Royal Leicestershire”, surmounted by the battle honour “Hindoostan”. The design is die-struck in aluminium and finished in a silver-tone anodised coating, as typical of issue badges worn on the beret and No.2 Dress during the final years of the regiment’s independent existence.
The reverse is fitted with a long slider for secure attachment to the beret.
