An original officer’s silver plate and gilt beret badge to the Royal Leicestershire Regiment, worn between 1946 and 1964, during the regiment’s final decades before its amalgamation into the Royal Anglian Regiment. This example is a high-quality officer’s issue, designed for wear with the beret and No. 2 Service Dress.
Struck in silver plated and gilt base metal, the badge displays the regiment’s device: a royal tiger passant guardant with the battle honour “Hindoostan”. Beneath the tiger is a scroll bearing the title “Royal Leicestershire.” Officer’s variants are typically better finished than OR versions, often showing finer detail and a slightly deeper relief in the strike.
The reverse is fitted with a long slider, as per standard officer dress regulations for beret wear during the period.
