An original officer’s collar badge of the Dorsetshire Regiment, worn circa 1881 to 1958, featuring fine enamel detail and typical of full dress or walking-out uniforms worn by commissioned officers in the late Victorian and the first half of the 20th century periods.

This badge displays a breasted Sphinx in silver plate with the “Marabout” plaque below in gilt and dark green enamel, honouring the regiment’s action during the Egyptian campaign of 1801.

The reverse is fitted with original lugs for collar mounting. This pattern remained in service until the 1958 amalgamation into the Devonshire and Dorset Regiment.
