An original anodised aluminium cap badge to the Sussex Yeomanry, featuring the King’s Crown, likely produced in the early 1950s during the transitional period before Queen Elizabeth II’s accession. This stay-brite badge is a relatively scarce example, as anodised aluminium insignia bearing the King’s (Tudor) Crown were only briefly manufactured prior to 1953. The badge depicts the Sussex Yeomanry’s distinctive design: the coat of arms of Sussex with a scroll below that reads “Sussex Yeomanry”, surmounted by the Tudor Crown. The anodised aluminium construction reflects the post-WWII adoption of stay-brite materials across the British Army, replacing traditional brass with a lightweight, non-tarnishing finish. This version would have been worn on the beret or service dress cap.
The reverse is fitted with a long slider.
Condition: Excellent – Bright anodised finish remains intact with only light service wear; slider straight and firmly affixed.
Dimensions: Approx. 46mm x 31mm
