An original Imperial German 10.5cm Feldhaubitze (Field Howitzer) brass shell case, dated 1917, from the height of World War I. This heavy-duty case would have been used with the 10.5cm Feldhaubitze, a standard German field artillery calibre of the Great War and into the Second World War.
Crafted from brass, the case features wartime headstamps, reading: “Karlit/ 483/JUNI 1917/ PATRONENFABRIK KARLSRUHE/Sp255”. These shell cases were used extensively on the Western Front and other theatres and are a classic example of German WWI munitions design.
Highly sought after by collectors of WWI artillery, German field gear, or historical ordnance, and also ideal for trench art, museum displays, or period diorama settings.
Condition: Very good. The headstamps are worn in places.
