FOR UK SALE ONLY, WE CANNOT EXPORT AMMUNITION OR ORDNANCE!
An example of WWI trench art, this piece repurposes an original Canadian-made QF 18-Pounder brass shell case, dated 1916, into a coal scuttle or fireside container. The 18-pounder was a common field gun of the British Army throughout World War I and into the Second World War
This shell case has been carefully modified in-period or after the war into a functional decorative piece, often created by soldiers or artisans as a remembrance of service. The original headstamp markings remain clear on the base, reading “18 PR/II (Mark II)/MD Co. (Metal Drawing Co., St.Catherine’s, Ontario)/BPG/ 1 (Candian “C” Broad Arrow) 10. 2. 16 (10th February 1916)/ 1916”.
Condition: Very good. Headstamp is well preserved and legible. Structurally solid, however, the brass handle on the base rattles.
