A superb and original example of a French 75mm brass shell case, manufactured by Schneider et Cie and clearly dated 1916, during the height of World War I. This case was possibly produced for the Canon de 75 modèle 1912 (M1912) Schneider or Canon de 75 modèle 1914 (M1914) Schneider.
Made from brass, this inert artillery shell case bears crisp headstamp markings, reading “141 / S.M.A. / 702. 1916 / SCHNEIDER” with the primer marked “3M/ 28/39 / (illegible)”. Schneider & Cie was one of France’s principal arms manufacturers, supplying tens of thousands of rounds for use on the Western Front in the brutal artillery duels of WWI.
