An original curved brass shoulder title for the Somerset Light Infantry, featuring “SOMERSET” in block serifed capitals. This pattern was worn from approximately 1881, following the Childers Reforms, until the end of the First World War, when the title, along with the bugle, was produced into a one-piece badge.
Manufactured in brass, this shoulder title would have been worn on the epaulettes of the service dress or khaki drill uniforms by other ranks, identifying the regiment at a glance. These would’ve been worn with a separate Rifles/Light Infantry bugle.
Condition: Good to very good. Original lugs intact.
Dimensions: approx. 53mm x 23mm
