2nd Battalion, North Staffordshire Regiment (The Prince of Wales’s) original collar badge, 1895-1901 pattern. The design incorporates the Prince of Wales’s plumes above a scroll inscribed Ich Dien, set atop the Stafford Knot. This pattern was introduced in 1895 with an error in the design, remaining in use until the design was corrected in 1901. Struck in bimetal for the service dress of other ranks, these badges were worn in pairs on the tunic collars. Reverse fitted with lugs for attachment.
Dimensions
Height: approx. 27mm
Width: approx. 42mm
Condition
Very good, with clear detail to the plumes, motto scroll, and Stafford Knot. The gilding metal and white metal finish shows light, even patina consistent with age. Reverse lugs intact and functional.
