Original 7th, 8th, and 9th (Territorial) Battalions, Middlesex Regiment cap badge, worn by the Territorial Force and later Territorial Army personnel, drawn largely from London and Middlesex.
The badge is struck in bimetal (brass and white metal), featuring the classic Prince of Wales’s plumes over a coronet, with the Duke of Cambridge’s cypher and battle honour “South Africa 1900-02” below, as well as the regimental title “Middlesex Regiment” on a scroll beneath, and a surrounding laurel wreath motif. Reverse fitted with the slider fitting for service cap attachment, with a hole drilled through to hold it in place.
Dimensions
Height: approx. 42mm (1.7 in)
Width: approx. 49mm (1.9 in)
Condition
Good. The coronet is mistruck. Brass retains a light patina with crisp definition to all design details. Minor surface wear consistent with age and use. Slider fitting intact and secure. No cracks, repairs, or distortion are evident.
