Devonshire Regiment collar badge of the short-lived 1882-1886 pattern, bearing a castle on a Garter star. This pattern was introduced after the Childers reforms of 1881 but proved very unpopular and was replaced in 1886, making this pattern extremely scarce. Struck in gilding metal for other ranks’ service dress, these were worn in pairs on tunic collars. Reverse retains its original lugs for fitting.
