Royal Regiment of Wales cap badge of the pattern worn from 1969 until 2006 by the Royal Regiment of Wales, a Welsh line infantry regiment of the British Army formed through the amalgamation of the South Wales Borderers and the Welch Regiment. This British Army infantry cap badge displays the recognised insignia of the regiment in clear relief, incorporating the Prince of Wales’s feathers as the central device, issuing from a coronet and accompanied by the motto “Ich Dien.”

The design reflects the regiment’s Welsh heritage and its association with the Prince of Wales, an emblem long connected with Welsh identity and regimental tradition. The badge continued the heraldic symbolism carried forward from the regiment’s antecedent units and remained in use until the formation of the Royal Welsh in 2006.

Manufactured in a bimetal finish (gilding metal and white metal) consistent with service dress and beret wear, the badge presents a well-defined example of the late twentieth-century pattern worn by the regiment during its service in the final decades of the twentieth century and the early years of the twenty-first.
