Border Regiment (1905-1953 Pattern) Cap Badge, King’s Crown, Restrike

Border Regiment cap badge produced as a restrike of the King’s Crown pattern worn between 1905 and 1953 by the Border Regiment of the British Army. This British Army infantry cap badge displays the recognised insignia of the regiment in clear relief, incorporating the dragon device associated with the regiment’s historical links to China service, backed by a Maltese cross bearing the various battle honours of the Border Regiment and starburst, mounted above a scroll bearing the regimental title “The Border Regt”. The composition is surmounted by the King’s Crown and arranged in a formal style characteristic of early twentieth-century British Army line infantry headdress insignia.

The design reflects the regiment’s long service history, including campaigns of the late nineteenth century and both the First and Second World Wars. The dragon device commemorates the regiment’s participation in the China campaign and became a distinctive feature of the regiment’s insignia throughout the twentieth century.
