A genuine and scarce early manufacture cap badge of the Northumberland Fusiliers, worn from 1898 until the regiment was retitled as the Royal Northumberland Fusiliers in 1935.
This version features the flaming grenade design with the central circlet inscribed “Northumberland Fusiliers”, surrounding the image of Saint George slaying the dragon. Die-struck in brass with well-defined detail and fitted with its original north-south eyed lugs on the reverse – indicative of earlier manufacture, likely pre-WWI.
This design was worn through the Second Boer War, the First World War and into the interwar period.
Condition: Very Good – Crisp detail throughout, light age-related wear, original long slider intact and firm.
Dimensions: Approx. 41mm x 33mm
