Scots Guards mounted gilt button of the pattern worn by members of the Scots Guards of the British Army. This small-format button displays the recognised insignia of the regiment in miniature relief, incorporating the Star of the Order of the Thistle as the principal device, with the central thistle motif surrounded by the motto “Nemo Me Impune Lacessit.” The design is surmounted by the Queen’s Crown, reflecting the post-1953 period.

The Scots Guards, one of the regiments of Foot Guards within the Household Division, have a long and distinguished history dating back to the seventeenth century. The Star of the Order of the Thistle, Scotland’s highest order of chivalry, forms the defining feature of the insignia and is characteristic of Scots Guards dress buttons and headdress devices.

Manufactured as a mounted gilt button consistent with British Army dress uniform fittings, this example provides a clear and well-defined representation of the regimental badge in miniature form. Scots Guards buttons are collected as examples of Household Division militaria, British Army dress uniform components, and regimental insignia.
