Cambridgeshire Regiment uniform button of the pattern worn between 1908 and 1961, associated with this Territorial Army infantry regiment of the British Army. This 25mm button features the regiment’s recognised device in crisp relief, incorporating a castle below a scroll bearing the title “Cambridgeshire Regt”, with a laurel wreath below and executed in anodised aluminium finish typical of period manufacture.
The castle emblem reflects the historic county of Cambridgeshire and its local identity. The regiment, formed as part of the Territorial Force reforms of 1908, served in both the First and Second World Wars, contributing to home defence and overseas operations. Buttons of this type formed an essential component of service dress and full dress uniforms, reflecting regimental identity in even the smallest details of military attire.
Manufactured in anodised aluminium with a loop shank fitting to the reverse, this example provides a well-defined representation of early to mid-twentieth century British Army uniform hardware. Cambridgeshire Regiment buttons are collected as examples of Territorial Army insignia, British military buttons, and regimental uniform components.
