1914-15 Star Trio, Private Thomas Price, 1/4th Battalion, East Yorkshire Regiment (Killed in Action at Passchendaele 14/12/1917)
Thomas Price was born in Gateshead-on-Tyne. He initially enlisted in the 1st Battalion, Durham Light Infantry, on the 3rd of September, 1914. Transferred to the 8th Battalion, DLI, as a Private on the 5th of October 1914. He was appointed Lance Corporal on the 8th of October 1914, then reverted to Private later that month. He then transferred to the 3rd DLI on the 8th March 1915 and was posted to France on the 26th of May the same year. He is noted online as being wounded in June/July while serving in the Green Howards. Transferred to 2nd Battalion, Green Howards (Yorkshire Regiment), I believe; however, the list is extremely faded, on the 14th of August 1916.
He transferred to the 1st East Yorkshire Regiment and was posted to the 1/4th Battalion, East Yorkshire Regiment on the 30th of April, 1917. He is listed as being killed in action on the 14th of December 1917, likely in Passchendaele Village while serving in the 150th Brigade, 50th (Northumbrian) Division, immediately after the major fighting during the Third Battle of Ypres, about 1 day after returning to the line after relieving the 33rd Division (East and South)
