23rd (Royal Welsh Fusiliers) Regiment of Foot Glengarry cap badge, restrike example based on the historic insignia of the 23rd (Royal Welsh Fusiliers) Regiment of Foot. This regiment, later known as the Royal Welch Fusiliers, was one of the most distinguished line infantry regiments of the British Army, with a service history spanning from the late 17th century through numerous major campaigns.
The badge design incorporates the regiment’s distinctive device in relief, featuring the flaming grenade associated with fusilier regiments with a circlet bearing the regimental title “Royal Welsh Fusiliers” and a central “23”.
Glengarry badges of this type were worn on the traditional Scottish-style Glengarry cap, adopted for undress or field wear by various regiments. Such badges served as identifiers of regimental affiliation while maintaining established British Army uniform traditions.
This restrike example has been produced to replicate the appearance and detailing of original period badges. While not of original manufacture, it offers an accurate and accessible representation suitable for collectors, display, or reenactment use.
Manufactured in brass with standard fittings to the reverse, this example provides a durable and well-defined representation of British regimental insignia. Badges of the Royal Welsh Fusiliers are widely collected within British militaria, particularly for their strong identity and long service history.
