Pioneer Corps cap badge (King’s Crown, 1939–1953 pattern) – original example of British Army headdress insignia associated with the Pioneer Corps. This pattern was worn during the reign of George VI and remained in service throughout the Second World War and the immediate post-war period until the adoption of the Queen’s Crown in 1953.

The badge features the distinctive insignia of the Pioneer Corps in relief, surmounted by the King’s Crown and incorporating the corps motto “Labor omnia vincit” within a scroll beneath. The design reflects the corps’ essential role in providing labour, engineering support, logistics, and construction services to the British Army.

Cap badges of this type were worn on military headwear by other ranks of the Pioneer Corps, serving as a visible indication of corps affiliation. During World War II, the corps undertook a wide range of duties, including road and bridge construction, cargo handling, fieldwork, and support operations in every major theatre of war.

The Pioneer Corps was formed in 1939 as the Auxiliary Military Pioneer Corps before adopting the title Pioneer Corps in 1940. Its personnel came from across the United Kingdom and the Commonwealth, making a significant contribution to the Allied war effort. In 1993, the corps became part of the Royal Logistic Corps.

Manufactured in brass with original attachment fittings to the reverse, this example represents an authentic and highly collectable piece of British military insignia from the Second World War era.
